Seasonal Nature Connection Guide: Ostara (Spring Equinox)

Seasonal Nature Connection Guide: Ostara

As a nature lover, connecting with the seasons is one of the most profound ways to flow with the natural energy of life. We live in a world that is incredibly disconnected from nature, and the results of that are proving to be more and more damaging. Chronic illness, over-consumption, and rising mental health challenges are just a few of the symptoms of this disconnection.

That’s because we ARE nature. We are NOT machines. The further we get from our natural world, pace, and connection… the bigger problems we will soon be facing.

Taking the time to intentionally align with the seasons of nature is a beautiful practice of self-love, quiet activism, and natural healing.

As you can see, this guide is supporting the season of Ostara (~March 20 - April 30). Ostara is one of the eight seasonal celebrations of the Wheel of the Year, marking the Spring Equinox a moment of perfect balance between day and night. It’s a season of renewal, growth, and the full awakening of life after the long slumber of winter.

How to Use This Ostara Guide:

As your Nature-Loving Bestie, I wanted a seasonal guide to help us re-align. When you’re aligned… everyone wins… including the Earth.

This guide is to help you come back to what you LOVE… nature.

It’ll help you bring in nature connection, spiritual threads, and practical ways to lead you back to reconnection. With that, feel free to utilize this exactly how your intuition is asking you to.

  • Perhaps you read over it all and focus on the part that’s popping out at you.

  • Or maybe you work through the pieces over the six weeks of the season.

  • There’s no wrong way to do it… this is the magic of partnering with the Earth to guide you. There’s not a manual. It’s beyond the realm of templates and processes.

Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? With that, I think it’s time to dive in.

ostara: ~march 21-april 30

Ostara is the season of balance and blooming. The Earth is waking up fully now, and signs of life are everywhere - buds bursting open, animals emerging, and sunlight stretching longer across the sky. Ostara is named after Eostre, a goddess of fertility and dawn, symbolizing new life and abundance.

This is a powerful time to plant seeds (physically and metaphorically), set intentions, and invite balance into your life.

Energy of the Season:

  • Balance

  • Expansion

Plant Spirit of Ostara - Dandelion

  • Dandelion

    • Plant Spirit Message (Channeled by yours truly).

      • Have fun! Play! Have you forgotten the part of you that likes to explore, play and have fun? It’s time to bring that part of you back. You worry so much about your happiness, health and money… but THIS, my dear, is what you’re missing.

      • Invite that part of you back into your life. That is the spark that will reignite you from the inside out.

      • I don’t care how old you are. Go play.

      • Build a fort (for yourself).

      • Read a children’s book (to yourself).

      • Color.

      • Dig for worms in the dirt.

      • Dance.

      • Play.

      • Be free.

Dandelion teaches us about resilience, transformation, and finding joy in simplicity. Often overlooked as a “weed,” dandelion reminds us that sometimes the greatest healing comes from what we dismiss. It invites us to root deeply, nourish our bodies, and trust in our innate wisdom.

  • Some amazing qualities of dandelion medicine:

    • Liver detox/support

    • Lymph system support

    • Highly nutrient dense (Vit A, C, K + minerals)

    • Bitter - supports healthy digestion

    • Energetically detoxing - clearing stagnation & inviting flow

    • Inviting in resilience, joy and sunshine

  • Work with dandelion:

    • Harvest young dandelion greens for a spring tonic salad (make sure the area isn’t sprayed with chemicals/fertilizers)

    • Make a dandelion root decoction for liver support.

    • Sit with a blooming dandelion and reflect on where you need to grow despite challenges.

    • Use dandelion flower essence to invite joy, courage, and resilience.

Animal Spirit of Ostara - Rabbit

  • Rabbits are the keepers of fertility, creativity, and quick action. As spring bursts into bloom, rabbit spirit teaches us to move with agility and trust our instincts. Rabbit medicine reminds us that growth requires courage and that we must be willing to take leaps of faith… even when the path ahead feels uncertain.

  • A few fun facts about rabbits:

    • Rabbits can detect danger from a great distance, symbolizing heightened intuition.

    • A rabbit’s sense of smell is even better than their eyesight. They’re likely to smell the presence of a predator before they see it.

    • Like cats, happy rabbits purr when they’re content and relaxed.

    • Rabbits’ eyes are on the sides of their head… so they can see almost all the way around them. This helps them to keep a close watch for predators. (can you even with the photo above?!)

  • Rabbit medicine can teach you about:

    • Fertility (of ideas, creativity and life)

    • Trusting your intuition

    • Facing fears and doing it anyway

    • New beginnings

  • Spiritual symbolism: The rabbit encourages us to embrace abundance while staying grounded. It asks:

    • What creative ideas are ready to multiply in your life?

Journal Prompts for Ostara

The power of writing. Make yourself a warm beverage and sit outside in the morning glow. Grab your journal and enjoy this time of reflection.

  • What seeds (intentions) am I ready to plant in this new season?

  • Where am I being asked to create more balance in my life?

  • What areas of my life feel ready to bloom?

  • How can I nurture the ideas or dreams that are emerging?

  • Where am I being invited to trust in my own resilience and adaptability?

Intuitive Message for Ostara

As I connected with the spirit of Ostara, it’s very much about awakening. What is awakening within you? This one feels easeful. Like your answer is already there. What has been asking you to come alive? It’s that thing you just thought about. How can you allow it to be easy and come to daylight? Play, eat dandelion, have fun and plant some seeds. But make sure you come back to water them before planting more…

Nature Connection Practices for Ostara

  1. Plant Seeds of Intention:

    • Physically plant seeds that align with your goals for the season. As they grow, let them remind you of the intentions you are nurturing within yourself.

  2. Observe Rabbit Energy:

    • Spend time watching rabbits (or tuning into their energy). Notice how they balance stillness with action. Reflect on where you need to pause and where you need to leap.

  3. Balance Sun and Moon Time:

    • As Ostara marks the balance of day and night, find your own balance between action and rest. Spend equal time in movement and stillness.

  4. Make a Dandelion Oxymel:

    • Harvest fresh dandelion leaves, roots & flowers to infuse in apple cider vinegar. This makes a potent spring tonic that supports digestion, detoxification, and overall vitality.

      How to:

      1. Gather fresh dandelion leaves, roots and flowers.

        1. Being mindful of leaving an abundance of flowers for the bees. <3

      2. Gently chop the leaves and roots. Place them (and the flowers) in a glass jar.

      3. Add in 2 generous Tbsp of unfiltered honey and cover to the top with apple cider vinegar.

      4. Place a piece of wax paper under the lid (to prevent rust from the vinegar).

      5. Label with the date.

      6. Let it infuse for 2-4 weeks, shaking gently every few days.

      7. Strain and use as a mineral-rich addition to salads or a tonic shot.

  5. Create a spring altar space

    • Craft an altar that honors the energy of balance, fertility, and renewal. Include symbols of light and dark, fresh flowers, seeds, and images of rabbits, eggs, or blooming plants.
